Achievement Unlocked: x < 20K

It's 12:30am and I just felt the bittersweet success of reaching my goal. Katherine is now 19,817 words, and I still have one last chapter to edit. But the point is that she is now small enough to be submitted to the 2013 Somerset National Novella Writing Competition.

Saving that last chapter for tomorrow. I think it's time to sleep!

Have you unlocked your achievements this NaNoWriMo?

- Bonnee.

    1. Don't say that too loud! But between us, it took me a long while to catch on to what it was too... NaNoWriMo is short for National November Writing Month. Traditionally, the goal is to write 50,000 words on a new manuscript within the month of November, but I know of people who set their own goals instead. Mine was to finish writing my manuscript, proofread it and edit it down to bellow 20,000 words so that I could send it into a novella competition. Actually, you'll still be eligible for that competition next year if you're still in school :)
I think there's even a website for NaNoWriMo. Yeah. nanowrimo.org :) You should get into it.

    9. Well, I'm gonna write a few little things whilst planning for the next big project... aside from that, I think that my week-long date with the beech starting Saturday, and the five day trip to QLD to follow might help me rekindle my creative juices, or at least give me a much needed rest. Perhaps a holiday is what we need...

    10. yes thats true. im so happy that its nearly holidays coz i really need one :D lets hope we both get our mojo back for writing these holidays :)

  5. It's good that you are ready. I read about the contest. It's open to all current secondary students in Australia. Are secondary students: High school students? If the contest is only for high school students you have better chances to win, or at least being on the short list for Victoria. Well, good luck. I watched two days ago the Aussie TV Drama "Sea Patrol." They show it now in Canada. Nice.

    1. Secondary students are indeed high school students, and if you ever hear the term primary students, they're elementary students. A few little Australianisms for you :) I'm hoping there will be around the same number of entries as there were last year, which was less than 80. I'm mostly just excited that I got this far. I can't remember if I've ever watched Sea Patrol or not, I remember the title from years ago... heaps of Aussie dramas are set near beaches and stuff though.

  6. That is so awesome! Congratulations! You must be thrilled. I got about 30k finished and I was pretty happy with that because I did a pretty extensive revision on another manuscript.
