Article Published: The Golden Vanguard

A co-founder of The Golden Vanguard, a news and entertainment online publication, contacted me last week asking if I would be interested in writing articles for their website. Now, I'm not overly keen on the journalistic side of the writing world, but I felt it would be a great opportunity for me to get involved and do something. So Matt Gannon and I had a little chat and I agreed to give writing articles a shot.

I was sitting there after agreeing to this new adventure, thinking. What the heck do I write an article about? What's interesting? What's quirky? What's fun? And I was thinking about it for a long time. I had a few scraps of an idea and then the next day, sitting on the couch with my laptop, warm sunlight pouring through the window... and I felt happy, sitting there.

Hmm, I thought. Does sunlight actually have mental health benefits?

I did a bit of research and sure enough... sunlight really does make people happy! I wrote an article about it and sent it in for consideration. I am proud to say that the article got through and is now published on The Golden Vanguard's website. Go and check it out

    1. Wow! This is such a great opportunity for you, Bonnee, so congratulations! You sound so professional, but you still sound like you, which is great. Perhaps you should write articles more often!

    2. JeffO - Thank you very much :)

Fiona - I'm glad I still sound like myself. I want to write about things I'd enjoy reading about, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll certainly be writing more of these articles :) Thanks.

  2. Sorry Jeff - I didn't mean to reply to your comment! An iPad plus blogger doesn't seem to get on very well for me!

    1. Definitely a good thing to put in my portfolio, even if it isn't fiction writing. :) I'm glad you thought it was really good EJ.

  8. It's a nice informative article that many people would like to read, and it gives your credits as a published journalist. Ask Matt if after 2-3 months that he publishes your artciles, if you can also submit the articles to other places. Then you can submit them also to print newspapers and magazines in Austraila and expand your audience. And you can use some of the info in the articles in your novels. Like one character explains to the another why they should not stay inside too much and go out to "Soak Up the Sun" .. a great song by Sheryl Crow on YouTube.

Unless otherwise mentioned, each author retains the rights to their own work. Bonnee can publish her articles anywhere she'd like. The Golden Vanguard doesn't like to stifle it's writers.

    2. Giora, Matt had already informed me that I'd retain the rights to my articles before I sent in this article. It would be pretty cool to be able to send it to some other publications and expand my audience. I'll definitely consider it :)

      Thanks guys.

  9. Congratulations, Bonnee. Interesting article. I wonder how much vitamin D I'm soaking up in the Arizona desert where I live, with its 100+ degrees every day. I should be one of the happiest people alive.

    1. Every time I see someone put in a temperature like that, I have to remind myself that you measure in Fahrenheit, not Celsius like I do. I hope you get plenty of vitamin D every day Peggy :)
